PARASITE Ecosphere 2 YEARS later! │ Woodland Stream Ecosphere - 2 Year Update!
In this video we take a look into the Woodland Stream Ecosphere (also known as the parasite ecosphere). It has been 2 years since this ecospheres creation and life still persists inside.
Three different producers grow within the ecosphere. Terrestrial moss survives submerged under water alongside a plant known as Littorella uniflora. Both plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen through photosynthesis. The final producer within this ecosphere is the Cyanobacteria. It forms bacterial mats along the substrate. Like the plants it can also photosynthesize.
Animals such as Ostracods have become quite rare within this ecosphere. I'm not entirely sure what caused their decline, but I wonder if th...

Creating a Lake Ecosphere │ An ECOSYSTEM within a SEALED glass JAR!
Просмотров 303 тыс.2 года назад
In this video I visit a lake to create a new ecosphere. This ecosphere is very interesting as it contains aquatic isopods. As far as I can tell these isopods are the main prey species within the ecosphere. They can often be seen exploring their new habitat, however they're quick to spook and even filming them caused some to flee. The ecosystem also contains 2 different species of planaria. The ...
An Alien ECOSYSTEM inside a JAR │ Ecosphere - 2 Year Update
Просмотров 74 тыс.2 года назад
In this video we take a look at the Homemade Ecosphere I built 2 years ago. This ecosphere was the first ecosystem build I filmed the creation of on my channel. It is also one of the most unique. String algae is the dominant producer within this ecosystem. Despite it engulfing a majority of the ecosphere another producer is able to live alongside it. A plant know as Monte Carlo (Micranthemum tw...
The ECOSYSTEM inside my LARGEST Terrarium │ Large Woodland Terrarium - 6 Month Update
Просмотров 106 тыс.2 года назад
In this video we take a look at my Large Woodland Terrarium. This ecosystem is contained within an aquarium. It provides the most amount of space out of any container I have used so far. Within this terrarium many plant species have established. Yellow Pimpernel seems to be quite rare though. I hope it continues to grow and increases in number as it's one of my favourite plants. Woodland Sorrel...
Forest Floor Terrarium │ Native Terrarium - 1 Year Update
Просмотров 99 тыс.2 года назад
In this video we take a look at the native forest floor terrarium I built over a year ago. The terrarium is home to a plethora of flora and fauna. Most notable species of plants include ferns, mosses and sorrels. The terrarium is also home to Garlic snails and Chestnut slugs. These molluscs serve as prey for the apex predator within this terrarium. Woodlice and springtails also possess breeding...
MARINE Life Persisting Within A SEALED JAR │ Saltwater Ecosphere │ 6 Month Update
Просмотров 99 тыс.2 года назад
In this video we take a look at the Saltwater Ecosphere I built 6 months ago. A lot of life forms have gone extinct since the previous video. Many are still persisting and some are even breeding however! The tiny marine snails are the most notable species you notice within this ecosphere. They feed on the seaweed and have a large breeding population. I imagine their population will continue to ...
Exploring My LARGEST Ecosystem │ Large Woodland Terrarium - 1 Month Update!
Просмотров 452 тыс.2 года назад
In this video we take a look at the Large Woodland Terrarium I built roughly a month ago from uploading this video. The terrarium hosts many plants from a woodland. I introduced isopods and springtails, whilst other species hitchhiked in on the plants and wood. Inside this bioactive terrarium many species have shown up. Tiny species such as Barklice, Springtails, Globular Springtails, Mites and...
Creating a SALTWATER Ecosphere │ Marine Ecosystem in a JAR
Просмотров 1,4 млн3 года назад
In this video I decided to create the long requested saltwater ecosphere. They are a lot more advanced than regular freshwater systems and therefore a lot easier to get wrong. I created the ecosphere with sand from the ocean. I also gathered shells and seaweed from the beach. I threw them all into the jar, sealed it and hoped for the best. This is my first ever saltwater ecosphere and I'm hopin...
Building my BIGGEST Ecosystem yet! - Creating a Large Woodland Terrarium / Vivarium
Просмотров 248 тыс.3 года назад
In this video I build a large terrarium from a spare fish tank I had lying around. Usually my ecosystems are small and contained within jars, however this time I felt like trying a project a lot bigger! I went out and collected various plants from a local woodland. The woodland hosted a vast variety of plants to stock my terrarium with life. I just knew there would be hitchhikers in the plants ...
Journey Through A One Year Old Jar Ecosystem - Ecosphere 1 Year Update!
Просмотров 74 тыс.3 года назад
In this video we take a look at an ecosphere I built intended for Christmas Moss. The Moss eventually went extinct within the jar due to the Dwarf Amphipods overgrazing and eventually overpopulating the ecosphere. A new plant species took it's place and grows to create canopies within the ecosphere. The Amphipods graze on the stems of the plants, which causes them to thin over time. Eventually ...

In this video we take a look into the Woodland Stream Ecosphere. (Also known as the parasite ecosphere.) It has been over a year now since it's creation and a lot has happened in that time frame. They were breeding in high numbers and without predators to control their population they soon exhausted thei...
WORMS RULE THIS ECOSYSTEM! 🐛│ Rural Pond Ecosphere - 2 Month Update!
Просмотров 46 тыс.3 года назад
In this video we take a look at the Rural Pond Ecosphere I made back in December. The water within the ecosphere was previously too murky to film so I had to wait an extra month for it to clear up a bit. (Sorry for the wait.) This ecosphere hosts a variety of organisms. The main prey species are both Water Hoglouse and Dwarf Amphipods. These species help keep the ecosphere free of detritus and ...
They live their entire lives SEALED inside a JAR │ Seasonal Wetland Ecosphere - 6 Month Update!
Просмотров 47 тыс.3 года назад
In this video we take a look at the Seasonal Wetland ecosphere I built 6 months ago. I built it in the summer, when the water source had dried out. I added new water to the substrate, which enabled the ecosystem present to recover from their summer dormancy. This ecosphere has a lot of plant growth. Animals such as the wandering snails and dwarf flat ramshorns feed on them. There is also algae ...
ISOLATING Pond Water inside a JAR for a YEAR! │ Woodland Pond Ecosphere - 1 Year Update!

In this video we take a look at the Woodland Pond Ecosphere I built in January 2020. It has been over a year since I built this ecosphere. I heard that it was natural for ecospheres to lose biodiversity over time, however this ecosphere still contains quite a lot of different organisms. The main producer in this ecosystem is Starwort. There is also duckweed. The duckweed seems to be struggling ...

you know, I am really curious if the isopods in this place have any noticeable differences compared to the outside ones. hear me out, in 16 years ( considering how these guys give birth the next generation in 12 weeks after birth(lets consider 16 for other cases)) these guys have gone through possibly 50 generations

so the isopods have enough air which is generated by the plants.thats what i was wondering in my ecosystem, its closed also,if i need to open it from time to time, not sure though,if my plants generate as much oxigen as ur algee

Mine got flooded when I left it outside on accident for too long. I called it the great flood and after I got all the water out. Eventually, life found a way the snails eggs started hatching. The springtails were eating everything that died. Millipedes have not made a return. The roly-poly’s are doing great though.

@@mistabrown830 No, the remains of dead animals or plants in addition to the bacteria and fungi that live in the soil will be responsible for renewing the soil's nutrients periodically. These types of terrariums can function practically indefinitely, because they have everything that a real ecosystem has but in smaller quantities.
